"The aprons were made from recycled fabric sourced from surplus military tents from the army. In northern India, near a large military base, surplus military goods are sold in the neighbouring towns. I was intrigued by the sight of fabrics in various colours, indicative of different battlefields—such as green for the jungle, beige for the desert, and white for the snowy mountains—all accumulated by wholesalers and stacked in layers. The locals, often adorned in military surplus attire without much thought, caught my attention as well. I distinctly remember one man who looked particularly striking wearing a sleeper train sheet wrapped around his head as a turban. The large tents that were procured had to be washed and then cut, carefully avoiding metal fittings such as grommets and windows. Sometimes, the dismantled fabrics were stitched together to create a single piece of cloth. As a result, each finished apron is unique in appearance.", PUEBCO.
